The quality and the overall impression were decisive when choosing plinths for the cottage.
Mattias Svenlin talks about the dream of a summer cottage in Larsmo, Ostrobothnia. In May of 2020, it was finally time to start building.
Here's how he describes the process of building the cottage:
"We had long dreamed about building a new summer cottage, and come May; it was finally time. Our old cottage from the '80s had been renovated in stages. As well as with the old cabin, we wanted the new one to be a place to enjoy the warm summer days. Still, we also wanted it to be a spot for relaxation in early springtime and during the darker periods of autumn; this was somewhat of a demand for our new place.
With the location of the site and its latitude taken into careful consideration, we would work out the best solutions for the cottage together with our contractor. Large windows facing the sea, a single sloped roof and dark facades blending in with nature were some of our preferences.
I had already had a look at various building materials, but it quickly got clear to me what I wanted. In the early stages of the building process, our contractor emphasized the importance of a good foundation. More so since the accessibility to machines and ground materials is not the same as on the mainland. Whipping autumn storms from an open sea place higher demands on building materials than when building on a planned construction area.
We had great help finding out the correct number of plinths and the recommended accessories needed for the dimensions of our cabin. The quality and the overall impression were decisive when choosing plinths for the cottage. Establishing the foundation was a quick procedure thanks to the pad and plinth being merged, and since you can adjust the height with the help of the threaded steel plate.
The plinth design is appealing, and when it comes to the implementation of the concrete, it's pure quality, through and through. The plinths from BCE will be a first-hand choice when I make the foundation for the terrace next year. I am already looking forward to it!"
